Project Period: 01-Dec-201001-Jun-2012
ICIMOD is implementing this project in three districts of Bangladesh including Bandarban, Rangamati and Khagrachari. Eco-Development is the direct partner of ICIMOD of the project in Bandarban. The overall objective is “to enhance the resilience of mountain people to manage the effects of global change” , and its main purpose is “to increase the income of mountain men and women by promoting the value chains of bee products and pollination services through the building of human and institutional capacities and regional cooperation”. The process oriented approach of the project helps poor beekeepers to come up with a product which is acceptable to consumers and will help in streamlining trade of bee products in the regional and international markets. For Bandarban, the main idea of the project is to strengthen 50 bee keepers for quality bee production, establish a regional network for bee keeping and honey production and establish strong linkage among the honey producer and potential buyers.
